Architectural Models - Catherine

During the lecture of week three, I was especially fascinated by the designs of Le Corbusier. While the designs are very minimalist and modern, they are still quite unique and unlike other architectural styles. Although there are a variety of designs, some elements that are common to most are blunt edges, concrete, and compactness. While the structures are usually compact, less compact areas are common, such as open spaces. An example of this style is the Curutchet House, pictured below.

The Curutchet house reminded me of the Sendai Mediatheque by Toyo Ito. Both structures have large windows that makeup most of the building faces and have white beams supporting the several layers. Additionally, both have a white roof and are compact and cubic. These structures are especially interesting to me because of the use of windows as walls.

Another architectural style that I find interesting and would like to integrate into my city is Postmodern Architecture. The houses pictured below would go well into my city because shapes are fun.

The models below are interesting because of the layered aspect and I would like to make some for both my digital and physical city.
